KERN & BURN is Tulsa’s annual, fast-paced design competition. Feel like you’ve got what it takes to take home the belt this year? We must warn you, KERN & BURN is not for the faint of heart, so be sure to check out the details below and bring your most supportive friends, because rivalries are born here. We only accept eight teams, so find your match and sign up fast! Lots of surprises to come after you register.

• Judges vote wins $800 and KERN & BURN trophy
• Popular vote wins $200 
• All participants must be 21+ years of age
• You will compete in three live design rounds lasting 30 minutes 
• Each round will be revealed during the event, so don’t bother trying to prepare
• Teams must include 2-4 members, however roles and titles are completely up to you (copywriter, videographer, strategist, architect, photographer, drink runner, emotional support, etc.)
• Laptops, computers, hard drives, headphones and any tools you may need during the competition are your responsibility
• You will be given only 25 assets per round that are password protected until the round starts
• You may not download new assets during the competition but you may use what you can create assets on the spot (live illustration, custom fonts, photography during event, etc.)
• Wi-Fi will not be accessible during the event. Contestants must have all software and plug-ins preinstalled on their machines to participate

In no event shall Art Directors Club of Tulsa or its suppliers be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, incidental, direct, indirect, special and consequential damages, damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use or inability to participate in Kern & Burn, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because some states/countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.
